their parents paid Maryland income taxes for the three years before high school
graduation, and continue to file taxes until college graduation. Opponents of the
bill led a petition drive last summer to block the law from taking effect this year
by collecting about 58,000 signatures. A referendum on the act is slated to be on
the ballot in November 2012.

Continuing the Conversation: Immigration and Our Faith

There were be four follow-on Wednesday evening sessions beginning on January
11. Those provided an opportunity for parishioners and other members of the
community to further examine immigration in the context of their faith and the
views of others.
