16. Help existing staff recognize bias and focus on reaching all their students.
17. My impression based on the stats shown and the topics is that we are improving as a
community but we need more help to push harder to become our best.
18. First time hearing these topics discussed in public. Reading the regulations and policies is
soul crushing. Loved hearing the students.

1. I was encouraged to hear of the programs already in place- equity, more culturally diverse
teaching staff. Disappointed that some of the outcomes are spotty.
2. My first meeting so I was surprised with the concerns within my community. Racism does
exist at many levels.
3. Impressed with the panelists, they were on point,
4. The students were very articulate and knew the subject matter. This was a very open
discussion.
5. Happy to hear about the equity plan. Concerned about the disconnect between intention and
implementation.
6. The need for more cultural awareness. The need for respect of each other’s cultures and
experiences.
7. Lots of information, however I want to know about the magnitude and necessity of the
implementation.
8. The facts are well understood as the percentages/issues related to racism in our schools is
understood. The panelists clearly defined where we are today.
9. What is the Department of Equity? What does equity mean in the context of our schools?
10. Intelligent and thoughtful answers from the panel.
11. Calvert is on the path toward equity but there is room for growth.
12. Students as well as teachers need ways to express their concerns to each other.
13. I was impressed to hear such insightful conversations from the youth. I liked hearing the
statistics from the adults and what they are doing to try and improve the equity issues. I also
like hearing issues from my peers being spoken aloud.
14. Having the conversations is essential to identifying solutions. It is great to see such a great
turn out from the community which suggests support for change.

5. These ideas have been discussed many times but the implementation is always delayed.
6. Need for diversity in our school employees.
7. They were very honest and open.
8. There is work to be done and there are great people working on improvements.
9. I was shocked/outraged by the parent and student perspectives we heard. This is not
acceptable in our schools.
10. We have the information – we need better implementation.
11. Open and honest. Although I agree with perspective, I would like to have honest discussion
from many perspectives.
